All FNAF Animatronics by Game

The complete roster of Five Nights at Freddy's animatronics in release order, with what each one does in its game. For the story, the Afton family and the human cast, see our FNAF characters hub.

Every Five Nights at Freddy's game introduces a new set of animatronics and then brings the old ones back in a new form: withered, burnt, nightmarish, rebuilt for a new restaurant. That's why the roster is easiest to follow game by game. A Freddy in FNAF 4 and a Freddy in Security Breach are very different machines with very different jobs.

This page lists every animatronic in the mainline games in release order, with what each one actually does to you in its game. The lore, the Afton family, the night guards and the films live on our FNAF characters hub, so you won't find long story recaps here. If you just want the headline number, jump to the count by game.

FNAF 1 (2014): the original band

Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a week of night shifts, two doors, two lights and a power meter. Every animatronic here has a fixed route to your office, and learning those routes is the whole game. The first two entries below appear only in later games, but they're the originals the band was based on.

Freddy Fazbear

Show Stage · Right side

Freddy stays still for the first two nights, then moves through the darkest parts of the building, which makes him hard to track on camera. He enters from the east hall. If your power runs out, his face lights up in the left doorway while a music box plays, and when the song ends, so does your night.

Bonnie

Show Stage · Left side

Bonnie is the first to leave the stage and the most active of the four. He comes down the west hall and appears in the left doorway, only visible when you switch on the light. Checking that door is the habit every FNAF 1 player learns first.

Chica

Show Stage · Right side

Chica takes the east route and shows up at the right window. She often detours to the kitchen, where the camera is broken and all you get is audio of pots and pans. She tends to linger at the door, so she drains power fast.

Foxy

Pirate Cove · Left side

Foxy plays a different game from the others. Check his curtain too little and he leaves Pirate Cove; then he sprints down the west hall in a few seconds and bangs on the left door, taking a chunk of power with every hit. He's the reason you can't ignore the cameras.

Golden Freddy

Secret · The office

Golden Freddy appears only if you spot a rare poster on the west hall camera. Lower the monitor and he's sitting in your office; look for too long and the game closes. He isn't on any route, which is the first sign he's something other than a machine.

Fredbear

Fredbear's Family Diner

Fredbear is the original golden bear who performed with Spring Bonnie at Fredbear's Family Diner, before Freddy's existed. He's seen in FNAF 4's minigames and is at the centre of the Bite of '83. FNAF 4's Nightmare Fredbear is his monstrous form.

Spring Bonnie

Fredbear's Family Diner · Spring-lock suit

Spring Bonnie is the yellow rabbit Fredbear's partner, a suit that could be worn by a person or run as an animatronic thanks to spring locks. It's the suit William Afton wore to lure children and the one he died in, becoming Springtrap. The yellow rabbit is also the threat in Into the Pit.

FNAF 2 (2014): the Toys and the Withereds

FNAF 2 is a prequel set at the restaurant's 1987 grand reopening. There are no doors. You get a flashlight, an empty Freddy head to wear, and a music box to wind from the cameras. The new Toy animatronics are glossy and cheerful; the old band, now called the Withereds, sit damaged in Parts and Service and wander anyway.

Toy Freddy

Toy · Main hall

Toy Freddy walks up the main hallway toward the office and is beaten by putting on the Freddy mask. Phone Guy says the Toys were linked to a criminal database, which makes their interest in the guard an uncomfortable joke.

Toy Bonnie

Toy · Right air vent

Toy Bonnie comes through the right vent and appears in the office. Mask on quickly and he leaves, after leaning into your face for an uncomfortably long look. He's often the first animatronic to reach you.

Toy Chica

Toy · Left air vent

Toy Chica takes the left vent and also falls for the mask. Away from the stage, she's seen without her beak and with black eyes, one of FNAF 2's best visual details.

Mangle

Toy Foxy · Kid's Cove

Mangle travels through the vents and across the ceiling, and you can hear its radio static before you see it. The mask works on it, but if it gets into the office it hangs above you and attacks a few moments later. Its broken body is the result of years of toddlers taking it apart.

Balloon Boy

Toy · Game area

Balloon Boy, or BB, is a small human-shaped animatronic with a balloon and a sign. He can't kill you. Instead he crawls into the office through the left vent, laughs, and disables your flashlight, which leaves you open to Foxy. Use the mask on him early.

JJ

Balloon Girl · Rare

JJ is a purple counterpart to Balloon Boy who appears only as a rare sight under your desk. She does nothing mechanically, which is why many players finish FNAF 2 without ever seeing her.

Withered Freddy

Withered · Main hall

The original Freddy, scrapped for parts and still walking. He comes up the hallway like Toy Freddy and is handled with the mask.

Withered Bonnie

Withered · Office

Withered Bonnie has no face, just exposed wires and one red eye. He appears suddenly in the office and needs the mask fast; he's one of FNAF 2's most frightening sights.

Withered Chica

Withered · Vents

Withered Chica's jaw hangs open and her hands are broken off. She comes through the vents and is deterred by the mask.

Withered Foxy

Withered · Main hall

Foxy is the exception to the mask rule. He waits in the hallway, and you have to flash the light at him repeatedly until he retreats.

Withered Golden Freddy

Withered · Hallway and office

Golden Freddy returns as a giant head floating in the hallway or a slumped figure in the office. Put the mask on or lower the monitor quickly and he vanishes.

Shadow Freddy

Hallucination · Parts and Service

A purple, shadowy Freddy who appears rarely on camera. He turns up again in FNAF 3's minigames.

Shadow Bonnie

Hallucination · RWQFSFASXC

A black Toy Bonnie silhouette with white eyes and teeth, known by the string of letters in its file name. It appears rarely in the office and can crash the game.

FNAF 3 (2015): Springtrap and the Phantoms

Thirty years after Freddy's closed, a horror attraction called Fazbear's Fright has scraped together relics of the old restaurants. Only one real animatronic is inside. Everything else is a burnt-up hallucination that can't kill you but can break your ventilation, audio or cameras, leaving you blind while Springtrap closes in.

Phantom Freddy

Phantom · Office window

A burnt Freddy who walks past your window. Ignore him and he jumpscares you, knocking out your ventilation.

Phantom Chica

Phantom · Arcade camera

Phantom Chica appears in an arcade cabinet on camera. Leave the camera on her too long and she jumps out at you.

Phantom Foxy

Phantom · Office

Phantom Foxy appears inside the office itself after you've been on the cameras. He's an unpleasant surprise rather than a real danger.

Phantom Balloon Boy

Phantom · Cameras

Phantom BB shows up close to the camera lens. Switching away quickly is the only defence.

Phantom Mangle

Phantom · Cameras and office

Phantom Mangle appears on camera and outside the window, filling the office with radio static that disrupts your audio.

Phantom Puppet

Phantom · Office

The Phantom Puppet appears in front of you and blocks your view for a long, dangerous moment, which is the opening Springtrap needs.

FNAF 4 (2015): the Nightmares

FNAF 4 takes place in a child's bedroom. There are no cameras, just two doors, a closet, a bed and a flashlight, and you survive by listening for breathing in the hallways. The Nightmares are huge, clawed versions of the original band, built for a frightened child's imagination.

Nightmare Freddy

Nightmare · The bed

Nightmare Freddy appears as small Freddles gathering on the bed behind you. Flash the light on them to scatter them; let three gather and Freddy forms. He's the one threat in the room with you.

Nightmare Bonnie

Nightmare · Left door

Nightmare Bonnie approaches the left door. Listen first: if you hear breathing, close the door instead of turning on the light.

Nightmare Chica

Nightmare · Right door

Nightmare Chica comes to the right door, and her cupcake, Nightmare Cupcake, can sometimes come with her. Same rule as Bonnie: listen, then close the door.

Nightmare Foxy

Nightmare · The closet

Nightmare Foxy starts in the hallway and ends up in your closet. You keep him back by holding the closet doors shut and checking that he hasn't reached the final stage.

Nightmare Fredbear

Nightmare · Nights 5 and 6

A giant golden bear who replaces the others on the fifth and sixth nights and can come from any direction. His laugh tells you which side he's on, so you need to listen carefully.

Nightmare

Nightmare · The hardest night

Nightmare is a translucent black version of Nightmare Fredbear who appears on the game's toughest unlocked night. He plays by Fredbear's rules but is harder to spot, and he's widely read as the embodiment of the whole game's fear.

Plushtrap

Minigame · Fun with Plushtrap

A small Springtrap plush you play against between nights. You shine a flashlight down a corridor and have to stop him exactly on an X; succeed and you skip two hours of the next night.

Nightmarionne

Halloween Edition

A towering, many-armed nightmare version of the Puppet who replaces Nightmare Fredbear in the Halloween update.

Nightmare Mangle

Halloween Edition

A nightmare Mangle who takes Nightmare Foxy's place in the Halloween update, announced by static rather than breathing.

Nightmare Balloon Boy

Halloween Edition

Takes the Freddles' place on the bed in the Halloween update, laughing and grinning at you from behind.

Jack-O-Bonnie and Jack-O-Chica

Halloween Edition

Pumpkin-headed versions of Bonnie and Chica with glowing insides, swapped in for their Nightmare forms at the doors.

Sister Location (2016): the Funtimes

FNAF 5 moves underground to Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental, a facility of high-end party animatronics built by William Afton. Each night is a different task rather than the same survival routine, and Circus Baby talks you through most of it. Every Funtime has a hidden compartment built to take a child.

Ballora

Funtime · Ballora Gallery

Ballora dances through her gallery and hears rather than sees. You crawl through it while listening to her music; when it gets louder, stop moving.

Funtime Freddy

Funtime · Breaker Room

Funtime Freddy and his hand puppet Bon-Bon threaten you while you restore power in the Breaker Room. You check on him with a light and play a soothing audio clip to keep him in place.

Funtime Foxy

Funtime · Funtime Auditorium

Funtime Foxy guards a dark auditorium you cross with a flash beacon. Flash too often or wander off course and it lunges.

Ennard

Amalgamation · Private Room

Ennard is a mass of wires and endoskeleton parts from all the Funtimes, wearing a single mask. It hunts you through the doors and vents of the Private Room in the final night. It later sheds Baby and becomes Molten Freddy.

Bon-Bon

Funtime Freddy's hand puppet

A small blue rabbit puppet on Funtime Freddy's arm who chats along with him during his act. He's part of what makes Freddy's split personality so unsettling.

Bidybabs

Miniatures · Circus Control

Tiny Circus Baby lookalikes that try to get under the desk with you in Circus Control. Hold the door shut against them.

Electrobab

Miniature · Circus Control

A Bidybab variant built to deliver electric shocks, part of Circus Control's miniature crew.

Minireenas

Miniatures · Ballora's dancers

Small dancing figures from Ballora's show. On the Springlock night they climb all over the suit you're hiding in, and you have to shake them off.

Yenndo

Endoskeleton · Custom Night

A yellow, Funtime-Freddy-shaped endoskeleton glimpsed in the main game. It only becomes a real threat in Custom Night.

Bonnet

Funtime Freddy's pink puppet · Custom Night

A pink rabbit hand puppet who runs across the screen in Custom Night. Click her nose before she reaches you.

Lolbit

Funtime Foxy palette swap · Custom Night

An orange-and-black Funtime Foxy variant who appears in your window with a "please stand by" message. Typing L-O-L sends her away.

Pizzeria Simulator (2017): Rockstars and the salvage four

FNAF 6 starts as a cheerful restaurant tycoon game. You buy attractions, place decorations and run your pizzeria by day; at night you survive in an office as damaged animatronics find their way into the vents. Between shifts you salvage strange machines left in the alley, poking them with a taser and hoping they don't move.

Molten Freddy

Salvage · Ennard rebuilt

Molten Freddy is Ennard after losing Circus Baby, a tangle of wire with Funtime Freddy's head. He's the first salvage, and later one of the vent threats in the office.

Scraptrap

Salvage · Springtrap rebuilt

Scraptrap is Springtrap again, worn down to the frame. He's salvaged like the others, and he stalks the vents at night. The final scene of the original story is built around him.

Scrap Baby

Salvage · Circus Baby rebuilt

Circus Baby's body, salvaged after Ennard left, rebuilt with a claw arm and wheels for legs. She still talks, and still seems to have plans of her own.

Lefty

Salvage · Rockstar line

Lefty is a black bear with a red microphone, named as an acronym for the job he was built for: to capture and hold the Puppet. He's the fourth salvage and one of the vent threats.

Rockstar Freddy

Rockstar · Purchasable

A shiny stage Freddy you can buy. At night he asks for five Faz-coins, and he'll attack if you don't pay up.

Rockstar Bonnie

Rockstar · Purchasable

Rockstar Bonnie has lost his guitar. Find it before he gets angry.

Rockstar Chica

Rockstar · Purchasable

Rockstar Chica can be held off with a wet-floor sign placed in front of her door.

Rockstar Foxy

Rockstar · Purchasable

Rockstar Foxy sometimes appears in your office with his parrot and offers to help. It's a gamble.

Helpy

Mascot · Tutorial helper

A tiny, cheerful Freddy-like figure who guides you through the tycoon mode and sometimes surprises you with an air horn.

Funtime Chica

Purchasable · Funtime

A Funtime Chica you can buy for your restaurant, who can turn up at night as one more distraction.

Music Man

Purchasable · Spider-legged DJ

A multi-armed, cymbal-crashing figure. Too much noise from your office wakes him up.

El Chip

Mascot · Beaver

A beaver mascot for a rival restaurant who appears on adverts. He's mostly comic relief.

The Mediocre Melodies

Budget animatronics

Happy Frog, Mr. Hippo, Pigpatch, Nedd Bear and Orville Elephant are the cheap, low-quality animatronics you can buy early. Each has its own small night-time nuisance.

Ultimate Custom Night (2018) gathers around 50 characters from all six games into one sandbox where you set each one's difficulty. It adds a few newcomers who aren't from earlier games, including Dee Dee and Old Man Consequences, and is the best place to see the whole classic roster at once.

Help Wanted (2019) and Help Wanted 2 (2023)

Help Wanted is a VR collection that rebuilds the classic games' offices and minigames, so most of its animatronics are faithful VR versions of the ones above. Its key addition isn't a machine at all. Glitchtrap, a man in a Spring Bonnie suit hiding in the game's code, is Afton's digital remnant, and his influence carries into Security Breach. The Curse of Dreadbear Halloween DLC added Dreadbear, a Frankenstein-style Freddy, and Grimm Foxy. Help Wanted 2 brings the Glamrock-era Pizzaplex cast into VR alongside the classic characters.

Security Breach (2021): the Glamrocks

Security Breach drops the security office. You play Gregory, free-roaming the enormous Mega Pizzaplex overnight, hiding in Glamrock Freddy's chest when you need to. The rest of the band are hostile, corrupted by Vanny, and the building is full of staff robots that report you.

Glamrock Chica

Glamrock · Hostile

Chica hunts with her hearing and gets distracted by food. Drop pizza or rubbish near her and she'll stop to eat.

Montgomery Gator

Glamrock · Hostile

Monty is the strongest and most aggressive of the band, able to leap down from upper floors. He's fought around his golf course, and his claws let Freddy break through gates.

Roxanne Wolf

Glamrock · Hostile

Roxy is fast and has the best senses of the band. You face her at her raceway, and her eyes give Freddy the ability to see enemies through walls.

Sun and Moon

Daycare Attendant

One animatronic with two personalities. Sun is a fussy, rule-loving caretaker while the Daycare lights are on; when they go out, Moon takes over and hunts you through the dark. Ruin adds a third form, Eclipse.

DJ Music Man

Set-piece chase

A giant, spider-legged DJ booth who chases you through his part of the Pizzaplex in a set-piece pursuit. Small Wind-Up Music Man toys appear around the building too.

S.T.A.F.F. Bots

Staff robots

Robots that patrol the Pizzaplex in different staff roles. If one spots you, it alerts Vanessa and the Glamrocks.

Map Bot

Staff robot

A helpful map-dispensing bot. It gives you the map of the building and isn't a threat.

Glamrock Endoskeletons

Underground

Bare endoskeletons in the Pizzaplex's back areas and tunnels that only move when you look away from them.

Shattered Glamrocks

After their parts are taken

Once you take their parts, Chica, Monty and Roxy reappear in damaged "shattered" forms, still dangerous but slower.

Burntrap

Ending boss

Afton returns once more, fused with wires and Glitchtrap's influence beneath the Pizzaplex. He's the final enemy of one ending.

The Blob

Ending boss

A huge mass of animatronic parts, wired together underneath the building, fought in another ending.

Glamrock Bonnie

Missing band member

Bonnie's Glamrock version is missing for the whole of Security Breach, replaced in the band by Monty. What happened to him is a side mystery Ruin picks up.

The Mimic

Ruin and Secret of the Mimic

A learning endoskeleton that copies voices and costumes. It appears in Ruin and headlines Secret of the Mimic (2025); its background is on the FNAF characters page.

The animatronic "families" explained

Most names on this page are a prefix plus a familiar character. Once you know the prefixes, the roster stops looking so huge:

  • Toy (FNAF 2): shiny 1987 replacements for the original band, with rosy cheeks and plastic shells.
  • Withered (FNAF 2): the original band, damaged and stored for parts.
  • Phantom (FNAF 3): burnt hallucinations of earlier characters that can't kill you.
  • Nightmare (FNAF 4): oversized, clawed versions from a child's bad dreams.
  • Funtime (Sister Location): Afton's sleek rental line, each hiding a compartment for a child.
  • Rockstar (Pizzeria Simulator): polished stage animatronics you buy for your restaurant.
  • Glamrock (Security Breach): the 1980s-glam band of the Mega Pizzaplex.

That repeating structure is a big part of FNAF's character design: a handful of mascots reinterpreted again and again. It's also why FNAF dominates fan tier lists and why mascot-horror games like Dandy's World borrow the same idea of cute characters with a twisted counterpart.

Frequently asked questions

How many FNAF animatronics are there?

Counting distinct characters rather than skins, the mainline games from FNAF 1 to Security Breach contain roughly 80 animatronics, around 60 of them in the first six games. Add every Ultimate Custom Night entry, AR skin and DLC model and the number goes well past 100. The table on this page breaks the count down game by game.

Who are the original four FNAF animatronics?

Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the bunny, Chica the chicken and Foxy the pirate fox, from the 2014 game. Golden Freddy is the hidden fifth, appearing only as a rare event in the office.

What animatronics are in FNAF 2?

The new Toy line (Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica and Mangle), Balloon Boy, JJ and the Puppet, plus the Withered versions of the original four and Golden Freddy. Shadow Freddy and Shadow Bonnie appear as rare hallucinations.

What animatronics are in FNAF 5?

FNAF 5 is Sister Location (2016). Its animatronics are Circus Baby, Ballora, Funtime Freddy with his puppet Bon-Bon, Funtime Foxy, the Bidybabs, Electrobab, the Minireenas, Yenndo, Bonnet, Lolbit and Ennard, the amalgamation of the Funtime parts.

What animatronics are in Security Breach?

The Glamrock band (Freddy, Chica, Montgomery Gator and Roxanne Wolf), the Daycare Attendant Sun and Moon, DJ Music Man, the S.T.A.F.F. bots, Map Bot and the Glamrock endoskeletons, with Burntrap and the Blob in the endings. Vanny is a human in a costume, not an animatronic.

Which FNAF characters are not animatronics?

The night guards (Mike Schmidt, Jeremy Fitzgerald, Fritz Smith and Vanessa), Phone Guy, the children Gregory and Cassie, Henry Emily and the Afton family are all human. Glitchtrap is software, and Vanny is Vanessa in a rabbit suit. All of them are profiled on our FNAF characters page.
