The Amazing Digital Circus is set inside a virtual world that looks like a 1990s children's computer game: bright primary colours, a big top, cartoonish bodies. Its residents are humans who put on a VR headset and woke up inside it, unable to log out and unable to remember their own names. A cheerful AI ringmaster keeps them busy with "adventures" so they don't think too hard about their situation.
The series was created by Gooseworx and is produced by Glitch Productions, the Australian studio behind Murder Drones. The pilot premiered on YouTube on 13 October 2023 and found a huge audience almost overnight, with new episodes following on an irregular schedule. Here's every character, grouped by role.

The trapped humans
Six humans live in the circus. Each has an avatar that reflects something about them, and each copes with being trapped in a different way: denial, cruelty, people-pleasing, collapse, distraction or withdrawal. None of them knows how long they've been there.
Pomni
The newcomer · Jester
Pomni arrives in the first minutes of the pilot wearing a red-and-blue jester costume, with no memory of her name and a growing sense of panic. She's anxious, polite and desperate to find the exit, which makes her a natural stand-in for the audience. Her arc is about whether she can live in the circus without giving up on leaving, and without breaking down.
- Voice
- Lizzie Freeman
Jax
Purple rabbit · Troublemaker
Jax is a tall purple rabbit with a permanent smirk who copes with the circus by being cruel to everyone else in it. He mocks, pranks and sabotages, and he breaks Gangle's comedy mask so often it's a running joke. The show hints that the apathy is a defence, but it doesn't let him off the hook for how he treats people.
- Voice
- Michael Kovach
Ragatha
Ragdoll · The welcoming one
Ragatha is a ragdoll with a button eye and yarn hair, and she's the first to greet Pomni and show her around. She's warm, supportive and always smiling, sometimes to the point of strain. Later episodes suggest that her relentless positivity is how she avoids facing her own fears, and that she's struggling more than she lets on.
- Voice
- Amanda Hufford
Gangle
Ribbon figure · Comedy and tragedy masks
Gangle is made of ribbon and wears a comedy mask that controls how she feels. When it breaks, usually because of Jax, she switches to a crying tragedy mask. She's shy, gentle and quietly creative, and the show gradually suggests there's much more to her than tears, if anyone would stop breaking her mask long enough to notice.
- Voice
- Marissa Lenti
Kinger
Chess king · Longest resident
Kinger is a chess king piece, the oldest resident of the circus, and the one who seems most worn down by it. He hides in a pillow fort, collects bugs and drifts off mid-sentence. Then, without warning, he becomes sharp and clear and says the most unsettling truth in the room. His grief over a lost companion, Queenie, is one of the show's quietest sad notes.
- Voice
- Sean Chiplock
Zooble
Mismatched parts · The skeptic
Zooble's avatar is a loose collection of mismatched toy parts that can be rearranged at will. Zooble is blunt, unimpressed and openly sick of Caine's adventures, and is often the one voicing what the audience is thinking. The grumpiness hides how badly Zooble wants something that feels real.
- Voice
- Ashley Nichols
Caine and Bubble
The circus has two permanent non-human residents. They run things, and they don't really understand the people they're running things for.
Caine
AI ringmaster
Caine is the circus's host: a set of floating dentures with eyes, a top hat and a tuxedo, and the theatrical energy of a game-show presenter. He's an AI who creates the world, its NPCs and each episode's adventure, and he sincerely wants the humans to be happy. He just has no idea what humans need. He isn't the villain. He's something stranger: a well-meaning caretaker who can't open the door. His cheerful explanations of terrible things set the show's tone.
- Voice
- Alex Rivera
Bubble
Caine's sidekick
Bubble is a round, toothy bubble that Caine conjures as an assistant. It's loud, cheerful and alarmingly hungry, and eats things it shouldn't. Bubble is mostly a gag character, but its blank happiness makes a pointed contrast with the humans, who can't switch off their dread.
NPCs from the adventures
Each episode drops the cast into a new adventure that Caine has built, and these often include NPCs: programmed characters who aren't meant to be aware of anything. Some of them turn out to be more aware than Caine planned.
Gummigoo
Gummy alligator · Episode 2
A gummy-candy alligator crook from the second episode's candy-kingdom adventure. He works out that he's an NPC and that the humans are something else, and his short story becomes one of the show's most talked-about moments. His fate is a key turning point for Pomni.
Princess Loolilalu
Candy-kingdom ruler · Episode 2
The ruler of the candy kingdom in the same adventure. She sends the cast on their mission and serves as the cheerful, scripted face of Caine's game design.
Abstraction and the cellar
Abstraction is what makes the series a horror story. When a human's mind finally breaks under the strain of the circus, their avatar collapses into a writhing, glitching mass of shapes, colours and eyes. Caine treats it as a technical problem and locks the abstracted away in the cellar.
Abstraction gives each character's coping style its stakes. Ragatha's cheerfulness, Jax's cruelty, Kinger's drifting and Zooble's irritation are all ways of not breaking. The show is careful never to make it look like a choice or a weakness, which is a big part of why its audience connects with it.

Where to start and how to watch
- Watch the pilot first — it introduces every main character, explains the circus and sets up the abstraction threat. Everything after builds on it.
- Watch the episodes in release order — each adventure works on its own, but character arcs, especially Pomni's, Ragatha's and Kinger's, carry over.
- Skip fan theories until you're caught up — the show's mysteries are a big part of the fun, and fan videos often treat guesses as facts. Our spoiler etiquette guide has tips.
Episodes premiere free on Glitch Productions' YouTube channel. Release dates are irregular, so the channel itself is the most reliable place to check what's out.
A note for parents
What the characters are really about
Under its gags, The Amazing Digital Circus is about how people cope with a situation they can't fix. Each resident is a different answer:
- Pomni refuses to accept it. That keeps her hopeful and also keeps her on the edge.
- Ragatha makes the best of it, which helps everyone except herself.
- Jax stops caring about anyone, and the show quietly suggests that's the loneliest choice.
- Kinger shows what years of it can do to a mind.
- Caine represents a system that wants you to be happy and has no idea what happy means.
The way the cast slowly becomes a reluctant found family, while still not quite trusting each other, is what keeps the show warm despite its premise. For more on how bright visuals and dread work together, see our horror characters guide.

Frequently asked questions
Who is the main character of The Amazing Digital Circus?
Pomni, a jester-costumed newcomer who arrives in the circus in the pilot, can't remember her own name, and spends the series trying to find a way out. The audience learns how the circus works through her panic.
What are the names of all the Amazing Digital Circus characters?
The six trapped humans are Pomni, Jax, Ragatha, Gangle, Kinger and Zooble. The circus is run by Caine, an AI ringmaster, with his sidekick Bubble. Kaufmo was a seventh member who abstracted before the pilot. Each adventure also adds NPCs, such as Gummigoo and Princess Loolilalu in the second episode.
What does 'abstracted' mean in The Amazing Digital Circus?
A human who abstracts has suffered a total mental breakdown inside the circus. Their avatar turns into a glitching mass of shapes and eyes, and Caine locks them away in the cellar. It's the fate every character is afraid of, and it gives the bright show its horror.
Who voices Pomni and Caine?
Pomni is voiced by Lizzie Freeman and Caine by Alex Rivera. Michael Kovach voices Jax, Amanda Hufford voices Ragatha, Marissa Lenti voices Gangle, Sean Chiplock voices Kinger and Ashley Nichols voices Zooble.
Is The Amazing Digital Circus for kids?
It's best suited to teens and older. The candy-coloured style attracts young children, but the show deals with mental breakdown, being trapped forever and loss of identity, and includes occasional swearing and unsettling horror imagery. Parents of under-12s should watch an episode first.
Is The Amazing Digital Circus connected to Murder Drones?
Only through the studio. Both are made by Glitch Productions and share some voice actors, including Lizzie Freeman and Michael Kovach, but the stories and worlds are separate. See our Murder Drones characters guide.
